About Us

Everything we do at Fairground is about capturing the weightless and carefree feeling of children playing in a fairground. When designing products and choosing materials we are focused on making shoes that are durable and fun to wear: made to play, run, dance and splash through puddles in.

At Fairground, using the highest quality sustainable materials has been the clear choice from day one. We use the finest cow leathers, natural rubber and pure, organic wools to deliver a product that is wholly without compromise. We work with small family run artisans and bottegas in Portugal and Italy to make our shoes by hand. Each pair of shoes is finished and stitched by hand, before being carefully inspected and delivered to you. The only reason a pair of Fairground shoes will stop being worn is because they haven’t been passed on to another child yet.

We are an independent family run business, starting out hand making shoes in 1974 and selling them in London’s Covent Garden Market. We have three successive generations still working within the business to remain faithful to our artisanal model and socially responsible values. It is the generational transmission of exceptional know-how – which enable the creation of beautifully crafted products that stand the test of time.

Our Commitment to Sustainability

At Fairground our primary focus is creating shoes designed to last and be passed on. We understand what it means to create a quality product because the roots of our business are in handmaking leather footwear in London from 1974.

The only reason a pair of Fairground shoes will stop being worn is because they have been outgrown and haven’t been passed on to another child yet.

We understand sustainability is about continually improving practices; we have an ongoing commitment to reduce our carbon footprint. To reduce the number of air and road miles that go into making a pair of Fairground shoes, we work with a number of certified, small family owned businesses in Italy and Portugal to source our components and assemble our shoes end-to-end. Additionally, all of the cardboard and tissue used for our packaging is made from recycled materials and we try to avoid using plastic wherever we can. We are at the beginning of our sustainability journey and are continuously looking for new ways to improve processes to protect our planet.
